We can only comment on current MOT legal legislation, due to the tendency for rumours regarding upcoming or potential legislation as i am sure you can appreciate.
Currently MOT legislation (4 December 2013) states;
“Garages and testing stations will be required check for a diesel particulate filter (DPF) in the inspection of the exhaust system as part of the MOT test (or annual test for heavy vehicles) from February 2014.
The vehicle will automatically fail the MOT test if the filter had been fitted as standard but is found to be no longer present.“
Therefore currently providing the vehicle’s engine management light is not present, it is within the emission tolerances and the DPF housing is visually intact the vehicle will pass its MOT.
Obviously with our DPF & EGR Removal solutions combined with the correct physical removal procedures ensure that the above criteria is met, therefore i can confirm to date no vehicles fitted with a Remap Wizard product solution (including DPF and/or EGR Removal) have not knowingly failed their MOT.
With regards to the legality of DPF & EGR Removal, it is the customers/end users (Registered Keeper’s) responsibility to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and fit for the MOT, therefore upon requesting DPF or EGR Removal from Black Code via yourself as a Black Code representative they are authorising this modification to the vehicle (you are simply fulfilling a request).
As and when the MOT legislation is updated we will be able to advise you again should Black Code’s stance change.
